Experienced Paving Foreman

JOB DESCRIPTION

Are you looking for stability and earn a great living in the paving industry?

We are currently looking for a Paving Foreman to join our team. The Paving Foreman directs activities of the paving crew and oversee safety procedures, quality of workmanship, production costs, and employee morale. The Paving Foreman must be experienced and must be able to maintain a pave crew and train as necessary. Have familiarity with grade, slope, reading plans, drainage, principles of asphalt construction and paving. This person must be able to monitor and manage man hours, material usage and trucking.

This is a demanding job which requires someone with dedication to ensure timely and quality paving projects.

Responsibilities and Duties

  • Promote individual and team accountability.
  • Direct and lead all aspects of the paving operations to achieve safe, efficient, high quality production.
  • Continually develop and use leadership skills. Support and provide mentoring to pave crew.
  • Oversee the daily activities of the paving crew.
  • Coordinate with asphalt plants on daily production requirements.
  • Identify productivity issues and take action to resolve them before the project is negatively impacted.
  • Calculate accurate trucking requirements based on distance to the asphalt plant and needed quantities.
  • Supports and adheres to all DC Construction Services policies and procedures.
  • Consistently maintains respectful open lines of communication.
  • Models expectations for professional behavior and holds the team accountable for the same professional behavior.

Experience

  • Must have asphalt experience
  • Highly effective oral communication skills required

Job Type: Full-time

Salary: $32.00+ /hour depending on experience

Laborer

JOB DESCRIPTION:

The Laborer’s duties and responsibilities are all geared toward maintaining a safe and efficient construction site while also supporting the overall project.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

  • Cleaning and preparing construction sites.
  • Loading and unloading materials and equipment.
  • Digging trenches, compacting earth and backfilling holes.
  • Operating and tending machinery and heavy equipment.
  • Following instructions from supervisors and implementing construction plans.
  • Assisting skilled tradespeople in their duties

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Must lift/carry 50 lbs., when necessary. 
  • Saturday and Sunday work required, when necessary. 
  • Post-hire drug testing required of foreign and domestic workers upon suspicion of use. 
  • A valid driver’s license is not required for the position, except for those workers who voluntarily drive company vehicles. 

KEY COMPETENCIES/SKILLS:

  • On-the-job training will be provided to the worker.

Job Type: 20 Part and Full-time Positions available from 4/1/2022 – 12/15/2022.

Salary: $18+/hr, depending on experience

OUR HISTORY

Founded in 1995 by hard-working 16 year-old, Dustin Calhoun, DC Construction Services, Inc. started out as “DC Sealcoating,” a summer job sealcoating driveways. Dustin’s business endeavor paid off and paid for his college, resulting in a degree from Indiana University. Post graduation, the business continued to grow as did its capabilities.

In 2013, the business name was changed to DC Construction Services to better reflect its service offerings which include new asphalt and concrete, resurfacing, sealcoating, asphalt crack sealing, line striping, concrete caulking, and more. 

Since the name change, DC Construction has evolved into a nation-wide asphalt and concrete contractor for commercial customers such as Lowe’s Companies, Inc., Wal-Mart, Home Depot, Simon Malls, CVS Pharmacy and Walgreens Company.
