Experienced Pave Foreman

JOB DESCRIPTION

Are you looking for stability and earn a great living in the paving industry?

We are currently looking for a Pave Foreman to join our team. The Pave Foreman directs activities of the pave crew and oversee safety procedures, quality of workmanship, production costs, and employee morale. The Pave Foreman must be experienced and must be able to maintain a pave crew and train as necessary. Have familiarity with grade, slope, reading plans, drainage, principles of asphalt construction and paving. This person must be able to monitor and manage man hours, material usage and trucking.

This is a demanding job which requires someone with dedication to ensure timely and quality paving projects.

Responsibilities and Duties

  • Promote individual and team accountability.
  • Direct and lead all aspects of the paving operations to achieve safe, efficient, high quality production.
  • Continually develop and use leadership skills. Support and provide mentoring to pave crew.
  • Oversee the daily activities of the pave crew.
  • Coordinate with asphalt plants on daily production requirements.
  • Identify productivity issues and take action to resolve them before the project is negatively impacted.
  • Calculate accurate trucking requirements based on distance to the asphalt plant and needed quantities.
  • Supports and adheres to all DC Construction Services policies and procedures.
  • Consistently maintains respectful open lines of communication.
  • Models expectations for professional behavior and holds the team accountable for the same professional behavior.

Experience

  • Must have asphalt experience
  • Highly effective oral communication skills required

Salary: $25.00 to $32.00 /hour

Project Superintendent

JOB DESCRIPTION:

The Superintendent is responsible for all aspects of jobsite management including staffing, scheduling, and business partner/subcontractor relations. As site leader, the Superintendent effectively oversees projects to completion. The successful candidate will have extensive industry experience that demonstrates excellent understanding of the unique needs and requirements of Clients Needs, Asphalt, Concrete and Asphalt Maintenance.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

  • Demonstrates strong knowledge of commercial construction and exceptional jobsite management skills;
  • Delivers on key projects and commitments via professional knowledge and leadership abilities.
  • Possesses detailed process & application knowledge relating to building codes, budget management, construction practices, project scheduling, etc.
  • Ensures on-time delivery while maintaining team focus on safety, quality and budget.
  • Fully understands and effectively utilizes drawings, specifications, subcontract agreements and purchase orders.
  • Assists Project Manager with material delivery schedules and effectively manages change management process.
  • Assumes primary responsibility for leading, implementing and enforcing jobsite safety requirements and DCCS Quality Assurance Program.
  • Leads and/or assists with job set-up, communications, safety compliance, record-keeping, quality control and closeout as needed.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering, Construction Management or equivalent preferred (HS diploma required).
  • At least 5 years practical leadership experience in commercial construction; strong background in mid-size to large-scale construction projects.
  • Verifiable work history/references demonstrating exceptional contributions, skills and integrity.

KEY COMPETENCIES/SKILLS:

  • Strong technology skills: Proficient in Word, Outlook, Excel, CMiC and various systems.
  • Strong leadership, conflict management and communication skills (verbal and written); able to build rapport and negotiate skillfully.
  • Strong organizational and planning skills; able to effectively allocate and develop resources.
  • Results-focused; able to effectively delegate and follow-up.
